Gives me shivers of joy for me haha. I got most of my modern albums out of circulation so I wouldn't care about they having nicks etc. at bough by these rules I could get 50 proof cents for a $1. Or 50 proof dimes for $10. So I would do it then. I have no interest over dimes so wouldn't go for this bag because most of it is in coins I don't like.
With proof coins I only want to fill holes I don't really care for them. I have the albums to collect the older issues like silver dimes, wheat pennies, and older nickels.
The empty holes for them annoy me. I know I have to pay a certain amount for them and they all pretty much the same as far as eye quality. I only filled in the ones that I found in circulation or toned ones I got for cheap, I just ,Ike the character.

Impaired proofs are good hole fillers, where no circulation coin was struck for a particular date. That situation exists for some Australian coins, particularly 20 cent coins 1986 to 1991, and 5 cents 1985 and 1986. 408 impaired proof coins could form the basis for starting one ore more date / mm collections. Where the impaired proofs are not available to fill some holes, they could be filled with uncirculated coins. These made up sets could be resold on ebay to recover your investment.

That's kind of my plan. All of my albums are P/D/S. I never buy just a P or P/D album. I have three sets of 1909-present Lincoln Cents. Two are complete, except for the proofs. The third just needs proof and a few keys/semi-keys. So even if there are duplicates on the Lincolns, I actually need three of each year just for my own collection. Anything that's leftover can be sold on ebay for a slight premium over face, or spent at face value.

Hey if these proofs turn you on then by all means have a ball with them. but as for Thad ,nns-52, and I, we can do without that kind of excitement.

I will never write off impaired proofs, but I will regard, and grade and value them as I would any business strike coin.

Quote: Chances are they are there for a reason, likely all culls. Maybe, but with moderns a PF-67 is considered a cull. Way too many Pf-68's or better around.

I agree, but this is where I differ from many (most?) collectors. I'm not hard core about grades/condition. I enjoy filling in what I can out of circulation, so I don't expect every coin (or even most of them) to be MS. My excitement comes from filling in as many holes as possible and upgrading whenever the opportunity presents itself. As for the proofs, it's all about filling in holes for me...not about the condition of the coins...so I don't care if they are considered culls by PF standards. As it stands now, many of my classic albums have culls as fillers and I'm ok with that. I'll probably always be a "quantity over quality" collector. One of my 1909-S VDB cents has a details grade and I'm just happy to have it at all because it completes the set. I may buy a third one to complete my third set, but I don't ever see myself investing in an upgrade for the one with a details grade.

I understand. My albums are not going to win any awards. Also, I would love to build a set from bags like this. I think it would be fun.

I am devastated. After spending days hung up in Rochester, NY, my package finally arrived today. It was an open, empty box with a sticker on it claiming it was received that way.

Shame on you, shipping service (might I say NOT the seller ) Terrible seller. 0 Star negative feedback and open a case with ebay.

I don't think it was the seller. The seller has 54,000+ feedback with 100%. If it was the seller's fault, it was likely in the packaging...although the box should have easily supported this many coins. I think USPS grabbed the contents.
