This summer we're taking the high school kids from my church on a mission trip to a Bible Camp up in the Rockies in northern Colorado. We'll spend a week on work projects at the camp.

Before becoming a Bible Camp in the 1960s it was a hunting lodge built around 1910, I believe. A few of the early buildings/cabins still stand.

I emailed the camp director and asked if I could bring my detector along and search the grounds during my free time. He said I was welcome to do so.

Now I have one more reason to look forward to the mission trip. The trip is in mid-July, so I have lots of time to daydream about what I might find . . . besides bottle tops from the camp canteen.

As you know 'all things are possible with God' & especially for those who believe (Mark 9:23 is my fav, followed by Matt 17:17-20).

Also, that sounds awesome (the missions trip)!! I've never been out west but I hear the summer is the perfect time of year to visit.
Rest in Peace

If you haven't detected in the Rockies you will find a lot of natural metals all over the place. Not worth digging but it can be very confusing.

No. It's about an hour and a half southwest of Fort Collins.

I just remember a nice camp down the road from where we stayed in Estes Park. Such a beautiful area of the country! Have a great trip.

I was at the camp up in the Rocky Mountains last week with the high school kids from church.

Unfortunately, my wife and I both came down with a nasty stomach flu on the trip to Colorado and were sick for most of the trip. Not a great way to spend time in the Rockies.

I did get out my detector for two short hunts around a couple of the older buildings at the camp, but other than a 1956-D Wheat cent didn't find anything of worth.

I'm sorry to hear that, Paul. At least a 1956 cent is better than nothing.
