No,no I've got Strike Doubling (or MD for you purists) vs true down.

But Why is some 2xing spread & other thickness?

But why does doubling sometimes present with regular (maybe thinner) letters and numbers, while other times, it presents with no spread at all and is just double stuffed.

In the former case, any tips on how to identify a true spread over a deteriorated die or something? Many coins don't present with obvious, or even any that we know of.

In that case it is usually on one side...AND that is just for one of the die stages!

I'm not trying to make a new mint based on the others' varieties/errors and I find it fun, but being correct more often would be cool.

Thanks!

Try this for starters.

www.error-ref.com/doubled-dies/

And then this.

www.error-ref.com/?s=die...#043;doubling

This site is the best reference for errors and varieties.
