Well, ever since I was diagnosed with diabetes, it's the only sort of candy I'm allowed to have...

In other news, I mentioned to my wife that I had one remaining hole in my proof type set, but it was probably going to take a while before I could find a nice proof 20-cent piece that I could afford ($1000-2000 range). She suggested that I want until next year and then just spend my entire yearly coin budget on a really nice example in the $6000-7000 range instead.
Decisions, decisions. Obviously such a coin would be insanely awesome to own. But I'm really not sure I actually want to spend that much money on a single coin and I'm also not sure I could truly commit to only buying a single coin all year long.
Ah well, either way I've got time to think about it...

Holy crudnuggets, Batman! The buyer's premium alone on that coin is higher than my current budget for the coin...

All right, when last we spoke, the plan was to wait until next year and spend my entire yearly coin budget to get one really nice example of a proof 20-cent piece in the $6000-7000 range. Well, since that time, my wife lost her job and, while we fully expect she will eventually find a new one, there are no guarantees and there's a chance I won't even have a coin budget for next year. My salary certainly covers all of our expenses, but doesn't leave anything for "non-essentials" (and yes, I realize it's a matter of opinion whether coins are non-essentials or not). My wife will be receiving 7-8 months of severance pay due to her many years of service at her company, btw, so it's not like we are suddenly hurting for money. But it's really hard for me to even think about spending so much on a single coin as a result of the uncertainty. It's also really hard for me to think about NEVER finishing my set, however, so I decided (with my wife's approval) to go with my original plan and look for a nice proof 20-cent piece with good eye appeal for under $2000. Except, instead of waiting until next year, I might as well just get one now... Anyway, after searching for weeks, I finally found one I hope I will be happy with. It's a PR62 (graded by PCGS) with what appears to be really nice mirrors that I was able to pick up for $1550. Here are the seller's pics: I'll take my own pics once I have the coin in hand, of course. But in the mean time I just had to share that I have now officially completed my [virtual] Proof Type Album!

Goodness gracious that is an awesome set. Going to take me years to finish my regular mediocre type set and you got a beautiful proof one! Very nice and congrats on finishing it! Hope your wife finds another good job as well! :)
