Ok ill keep short. I travel for work so therefore theres pros and cons for CRH for me when it comes to really getting to know tellers at home or on the road. I am new at the CRH but am avid artifact hunter and coin finder (detector). So when recently I was just driving around at home I dropped by 3 random banks and asked if I could get half dollars. 1st bigger county bank says no didnt have any. Bank 2 had 4. Bank 3 had 1. Each bank teller acted as if they never heard of a half dollar. Which could be good as well as bad. Now this made me feel strange, just weird for asking. So when my mother in law went to our personal bank which is larger she grabbed me a box of pennies and 2 dollar bills like it was nothing to it.

I would like to be able to get a few boxes any coin when I'm home. I dont wanna just burn bridge right off. But I dont have time to get very intimate. How would yall approach this situation?

And while I'm on the road I'm generally in one area for a long time. 8-12 months then on to another job of course with home time. Small banks around however I made friends with a farmer that is I think one of the bank heads. I will be hitting him up when I return.lol.

As for the big banks wells fargo is not far along with a few more. Any experience with them? Only loans with me.
So in between I have plenty of dumping room and uses for culls.
Is there any advise or knoweledge that I can get that may relax me as well as approaching unfamiliars in my situation?

I feel that in some aspects RCH on the road could be lucrative as well as local if done peoperly.

I only occasionally get boxes these days, but I just walk in Bank of America and ask for a box of pennies or nickels.. Only been denied on occasion and they legitimately seem to say they don't have enough boxes, but offer x amount of rolls.

I've seen countless posts on here of people saying that they talk to the bank about ordering boxes while opening an account, so the expectation is out in the open before giving them your business..

I'd work on getting two accounts, personally.

One large chain that can be found anywhere in that area for a dump bank. Then you can go place to place knowing that there will be a WF, Chase, etc. there for you to dump coins in.

Then you can either pick up and dump at different branches of the same banking company (not always recommended with halves, should be OK with smaller denominations), get a second account at another large banking company that you might find in your other locations, or open an account at a local bank so you can order coin. If you're there 8-12 months, that should be plenty of time to open, order, and then close your account when you leave.

I'd personally just go to banks, act like you know what you need and you have a right to access them, and just smile, say "hello", and just say "I need some coins please. Can I have X?" and that should work just fine. After a few weeks, just say "I don't want to put you on the spot each time, can I set up a weekly order of X?" and you should be good. If they don't want to do any of that, go to a different branch.
Rest in Peace

I like the idea of having access to a large chain bank for a lot of reasons. But it doesn't hurt to visit all the local banks. Just introduce yourself and say you're in town for the next X? months and can you buy boxes or rolls of coins? Worst case is that they say 'no'.

Also, check out currency exchanges. They'll charge something but it might not be too much and you might be able to pick up foreign coins -- older ones are often silver.

Nice, was this just a teller or did you speak to a manager or head teller about ordering? I've never ordered.. Just curious. I do have a bank that always has a box of halves on hand, but I switched jobs almost 2 years ago and it's a bit out of the way for regular stop ins
