I've finally gotten around to cleaning up my three years worth of modern coins found detecting. I'm going to take them to the bank and cash them in. They'll pay for my latest batch of coins sent to NGC for grading.

I did some reading on cleaning them and have given them a soak in a CLR and water solution. That did wonders for the cents.

It took the dirt off the clad dimes and quarters, but a lot of them are dark. Is there an easy way to brighten them up a bit before taking them to the bank?

I don't have a rock tumbler.

Why bother if you're just taking them to the bank? The machine doesn't need them shiny.

I didn't know if it would be an issue at the bank turning in a bunch of discolored coins. All the dirt is off of them.
