As far as I know, there is no CURRENT catalog of these medals. There is currently a 1964 "Matamoros" medal for sale on ebay for $75, but in my opinion that is WAY overpriced, even for a medal with a mintage of 5,000. Loving this... a commemoration of commemorative medals! Is the Mexico mint often commissioned make medals for non Mexican groups? Noticed 1952 (Peru) and 1982 (Spain).

I am glad you are enjoying this series of posts. It is, in my opinion, a under appreciated area, but it has a rich history dating WAAAY back. The 1952 I posted was not for Peru as far as I can tell. The 1982 was definitely minted by the Mexican Mint. I do not think they do it often, but they have done one or two for U.S. private groups. I'll try to find one, and post a photo of it. Thanks for that. Having a limited edition medal made for a special occasion is nice. I would have thought costly and an extravagance but after seeing all the examples in your collection perhaps it is within reach for many organizations and individuals.

1992 This was a big year for medals in Mexico. The 500th anniversary of the "discovery" by Columbus and 450 years of Guadalajara prompted many different medals. This is not one of them.
