I bought some junk silver from a coin shop a few days ago and was looking through it when I got home for errors and dates and I found this. I know the 1964 D reverse is one to look for so I'm really hoping this is an actual double die. What do you guys think? I did the best I could with my phone camera through my loupe. The doubling is much more clear with my eyes than the pictures.
Appears to be Machine Doubling rather than doubled die, but I don't do much with dimes and perhaps someone knows about the die markers for this date and denomination will be more precise.
Look at the CA of AMERICA. Notice how th "doubling" cuts into the devices. It is also very flat, and shows no notching. All of this is wha lets you determine that it is Machine Doubling, not a doubled die.
