Okay, I will follow your tips guys. I will leave the coin "as is", will not clean it or do anything with it. Still waiting for it, it is in transit and probably arrives in the next 2 days. The seller was a private person, no shop, female and is from some older collection. I am just hope, that the coin is an ancient fake. I have already compared it to that fake report from arnoldoe's post and sames no exact match. Is there out any service if we fail to identify if is legit or not or apprizer service?

I am deeply suspicious of this coin.

If it had been a 'young' Caracalla portrait with a Geta legend would be one thing. But a mature bearded portrait with Caracalla's famous snarling and unmistakable face ?
With a Geta legend ?

As previously mentioned Caracalla is generally believed to have met with his brother at his mothers palace in order to smooth things out. As the story goes Caracalla (or one of his retinue) ended the negotiations by running through the unfortunate Geta who expired in the arms of his mother.

The likelihood that years later (the portrait indicates a late date) someone would produce this coin seems implausible.
The celetor would be signing soprano by nightfall.

A mule it pretends to be
But I suspect it to be monkey business

IMO your coin has the same dies as the coin of Wildwinds , but I have old eyes and my view is not so sharp .If so , it is an old coin , official but with an error , an inscription for Geta with the head of Caracalla . As the coins of the two brothers were struck in the same officinae such an error is possible . Because the error was only with one die , a limited number of coins were struck ,what can explain that the coin is not yet in a catalogue .On the other hand , it is strange that on a few months time? albert, two of this coins appear . My question is : does Wildwinds control the origine of the coins on his website , or can everybody publish there a coin? albert

for me the portrait is ok . The coin of Caracalla with this reverse is to date 210/213 , Geta is murdered in 211 . If we compare portraits of Caracalla of this period with the planetparty coin , then there is a big resemblance : http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear...tml#RIC_0184 .albert

The BMCRE lists and illustrates other portrait denarii of Geta with this obverse portrait. That should not figure into your suspicions about this coin.

Thanks guys for your input on that case. I have done a lot of researches at the mean time, but I am not able to find anything else as antwerpen2306's link and another link from page 1 from this thread. It is now official, that the coin is not a modern fake. Hope someone still has some valuable information about this piece. What can you recommend me as for next move? Cleaning it?

During my research I found an another hybrid coin, but this time with a portrait from Geta and Caracalla was on the reverse (not a portrait).

antwerpen2306: I have contacted Vcoins and they told me, that there are individual sellers, that sell the coins. I think they take % from the buying price as offering the selling platform.

antwerpen2306, that's a nice idea and I have already sent them an email with description and pictures. Hope they can bring some light to the situation and may they also enjoy the research process as well, since may be something new to his boring days. (sarcasm)

Sames to be 3 different ones, but I like to hear the opinion from more advanced and experienced members.

Three different ones with too many points of similarity.
These coins are the work of a modern forger.
One with a sense of humor too.
While producing the dies it would be normal to occasionally use them in order to view the results and make adjustments as needed.

Three coins
Three duds
