A lot of views, but not replay, I am still looking for the emperors name, done some researches already and sames to be Macrinus. I have another Macrinus coin and realize, that probably this is not Macrinus.

it is a coin of Geta (209-212)
obv P.SEPTimius GETA AUGustus BRITtanicus
rev FIDEI EXERCITUS .
nice coin with a good portait, but I believe it is of Caracalla , his brother , so this coin would be a hybrid.it is interesting to check it.albert

Interesting coin. As antwerpen stated the legend is for Geta, but the portrait is clearly that of Caracalla his brother. Caracalla hated his brother and in fact had him murdered so I couldn't see this being allowed as an official issue.

Thanks guys. I made a purchase for that coin and as soon arrives clean it first. I like this, since there is a nice story behind it and I do some researches. I just purchased that coin blind w/o even knowing from what emperor is. I just liked the portrait details so much on it. I would like to know the market value as well, hope that I don't overpaid it...

The elder of the two sons of the emperor Septimius Severus, Caracalla is best-known for arranging the murder of his brother Geta after the two engaged in a power struggle in the months after their father's death. Caracalla was 22 years old, Geta 21.

The murder led to a wholesale slaughter of Geta's supporters and sympathizers, and soldiers were allowed to wreak havoc on the residents of Rome. The looting and bloodshed lasted for at least two weeks, and one contemporary source claims 20,000 people were killed.

Later year 212 saw a flurry of administrative reforms under the young emperor's leadership. Soldiers received increases in pay and in legal rights, but the most noteworthy change was the bestowal of Roman citizenship upon all free residents of the empire. This grant of universal citizenship, called by scholars the Constitutio Antoniniana, allowed for greater standardization in the increasingly bureaucratic Roman state. Construction was also well underway on the magnificant baths in Rome that would bear the emperor's name. The main building seems to have been completed four years later, but the entire complex was not finished until the reign of Alexander Severus.
Caracalla was murdered in 217.

Suspicion was strong that Macrinus had arranged the murder.

very special coin :
obv : head of Caracalla with a legend of Geta
rev : reverse of Caracalla Ric 213
Caracalla's reverse is dated AD210-213.
Is this coin an ancient fake or simply a mistake ? It is not in Ric for Geta ; maybe the scriptor -who made the legend-inscription - put a wrong legend around the head of Caracalla and nobody remarked the mistake .As the coin seems not a fourree , I believe this explanation is acceptable;albert

Strange thing, may there are larger numbers in circulation... I am a beginner collector and have no clue what is going, but I am more as happy for that find.

Okay, we know now what is on both sides, but as much effort I put in, there is no real info about this coin. I have done a lot of researches and can't find any useful informations - I am just lost. The coin arrives probably next week and I take measures first.

I think it has to be a fake. and the reverse is a die match to the coin in the fake reports.

you will not find more info about this coin, as it is not listened anywhere .It is an error coin , now we have to know the error was mede about 1800 years ago , or by faking it now .Once you received it , give more pics and sizes and compare it carefully with the Wildwinds coin http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...r.jpg.albert

I suggest not cleaning it yet (or maybe ever), until we have a better idea of what we're dealing with.
