What Is This | British Fruit Machine 6d Token

Quote from the Wikipedia article on slot machines: "Another early machine gave out winnings in the form of fruit flavoured chewing gums with pictures of the flavours as symbols on the reels. The popular cherry and melon symbols derive from this machine. The "BAR" symbol now common in slot machines was derived from an early logo of the Bell-Fruit Gum Company." Sap Moderator Australia 16947 Posts	Posted 02/14/2008 02:39 am The "6d" indicates is is for 6 pence predecimal, and dates the token to before 1970 (tokens issued during the decimal period have the denomination marked in "p", not "d").
