rking007 - could you provide some details on how you removed the "grease" from the cents. The coins you listed from prior batch in the "grading" forum looked great. Thanks.

Thrilled for you. Apparently you've done your share of good and the happy karma wagon has parked at your door.

There is certainly no ethics issue here, and there seldom is when an amateur (non-professional) buyer is dealing with an amateur seller, as in this case. Especially when the seller is listing items for sale on a public forum.
An ethics issue exists, for example, when a professional coin dealer deliberately takes advantage of an ignorant (non-professional) seller by making a low-ball offer.
Ethics and one's conscience are two different things.

Okay, okay! Just got home from my son's gymnastics meet, raced downstairs and took these... One is going to need some very careful consideration and input from the pros (IE BadThad). I have not touched them in any way other then taking them out of the dirty zip-loc baggy they came in. Sorry for the bad compression on the pics. I don't have a very viable photo setup as of yet. The mint mark on the first one has a small hit on the bottom which is why it looks that way. There are two other small hits in the field just to the right so I suspect at some point it came into contact with something. There is also the smallest bit of green tucked up in the four. The second is where I am going to need a small plan of attack regarding the green stuff. There was another lower quality cent that had some on it and it did mostly come off with a Q-Tip and acetone but I just don't want to mess this up. I am going to work on some better photos tomorrow!

These are genuine 1914 LWC's however, the mintmarks look highly questionable to me. BadThad is the real expert though. I'm sure he'll confirm ;-)

Yeah, I agree too, look real to me the second one needs some help but, the first one is a real nice coin.

I believe both are genuine 1914 cents . but I'm not sure of the MM locations. If proven to be genuine 14-D's I would send the second one in for conservation and grading. Regardless , nice pickup .

Both 1914-d cents are genuine. https://goccf.com/t/252833I've been buying coins on ebay since it was founded. I remember back in 2000 bidding something like $30 on a "shiny" 1885 V-nickel with a blurry picture where the grade could have been anything from 'fair' on up. The coin comes to me in a plain white envelope wrapped in tissue paper. I open up the envelope and the raw coin falls out on the carpet. It resides in a PCGS AU55 holder today. It's nice to see that pleasant surprises are still out there...
