I was going through a couple rolls of 50 cent pieces when I came across this 1991 coin that the front looked off center but the reverse didn't so I done some research and I believe it is due to a misaligned die,any help will be appreciated.

Hi Kevin, This is just what I was learning about on my 1962 LMC. On mine the front is off but didn't loose any of the devices - so slightly MAD but my reverse was normal. Yours is awesome because you are actually loosing part of the devices on the obverse and the seems off (up high like my coin) as well - so because both sides are affected it may be something different than MAD. I had a lot of good information responses on my post if you want to check it out. https://goccf.com/t/254378

Very nice find! Did you note how the USA is weak. That is because the die was not centered over that area, so they didn't get struck. Exactly what you want to see on a collectable MAD coin.

Quote: one more question is this more rare than an off center strike I don't think so. But a really good MAD is a great find.

THAT is a keeper. Mis-aligned die coins aren't that uncommon, but ones where the die is so far off that part of the design is missing are NOT common. (With every strike that obv die was smashing into the collar.)

Very nice MAD! They are very common (and worthless) when the dies are only slightly misaligned, but this will carry a premium for sure.

Thank you numisma,I am not sure how much of a premium it would be worth but it is nice to have one in my collection.
