I would have bought this coin only if the mintage weren't so high.

The first coin in the series as we remember commands a big premium, might be this one also will have success...
The "Butterfly" people had a fight for the coin (this explains appearance of the coins with detached wings) .. let's see what will be with "The Snail"

The snail will be a slug, the series is over done.

I hadn't realized this the snail is now the 1st of a new 3-coin "little creatures" series although clearly RCM couldn't resist continuing where the last one left off as the glass turtle is almost sold out. On their website, someone asks a question about the remaining two: "Haven't scheduled future coins at this time. Sign up for our newsletter to find out when we announce the next coins in the series." - See more at: http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/1-oz....VtcICPBfOrU

It may be the first in the series but it is not the first Venetian Glass coin so there is no premium for it. The ad above says, "Previous coins featuring glass creatures sold out." In other words the RCM is saying this coin is just a continuation of the glass coins that have already come out.

"Little creatures".....well the ladybug is already done, so what's to follow the snail? Caterpillar, moths, ants, worms, beetles....it'll be exciting I'm sure.

Highly doubtful unless no one buy it and the mint have to melt them and make the mintage lower. Ladybug glass coin was first of its kind and the mintage was the lowest of the series (5000).

Is it just me or in the top photo of the shell in the RCM ad does the shell look like a swirl of chocolate? - or something else?

Of all of the Venetian glass coins, this is the ugliest of them all. I thought last year's angel coin was the worst but this one beat it by a mile. You are not the first to note that the brown shell looks like something familiar. Something you see when you walk the dog. The ad says, Murano Glass is internationally known for its vibrant colours". Since when is brown a vibrant colour?

I understand you, guys, with this... but hopefully (for people who will buy) the coin looks much nicer in hand. And regarding the colour scheme - the Mint tried to do is realistic as in the real life. The biggest concern: you right, the theme overdone, and must be "closed" together with issuing the Gold series. 5 coins - and its all. They could do Murano Glass coins, but by moving away from small creatures theme.

I saw it in person at my local post office and my opinion of it has changed 100%. Actually it looks not bad. The color of the shell is really light compared to the one shown in the picture. Maybe I will buy it.
