Interesting thread and some good work there GR58. Its kinda cool that we all collect in different ways.

My chest appears at the begging of this video I made (showing a few of the odd bits I have in there) Different to your ones as although it looks really cool having all those coins in there it would bother me then knocking together.

Mine contains lots of binders including:

British Notes,
USA Notes,
World Notes,
BRitsih coins,
US coins,
Australian Coins,
3 x World Coins,
Ancient coins,
First and last Euro coins and notes,
3 multi-layered boxes with bullion coins,
misc boxed coins,
Phone card binder,
Gaming Chips,
Pens,
Boxes for watches,

Another nice looking chest David .... thanks for posting

I have wondered in the past ... if I could find a chest big enough
to hold my complete collection.

Thanks, chests like these were used for blankets... I am sure some of you have bigger collections than I do but they are pretty roomy if mine was coins only I would have a fair bit of room left.

Watching your video again .. over morning coffee.

I really do like your chest .. with all the interesting carving. Is it very old?

I am really liking the idea of putting boxed sets into something like
you have.

Some of your sets .. I am thinking would be cool to own.
There was a burgundy colored case, with what looked like
a 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p. Did you say that was from Queen Victoria era?

The chest is from the 1920's and is made of camphor wood. It was brought back from somewhere oriental but I don't know where or by whom.

That set of Maundy money in the burgundy case is Victorian, 1896 if memory serves me right...

'm kind of late getting in on this one, oh well. I had the same idea about 10 years back, and I went down to Hobby Lobby an purchased my treasure chest. Every year I would try and fill it up, and I actually succeeded a couple of times, until the wife said enough! I even enjoy filling up cigar boxes with Indian arrowheads.
They look great!

I have found them at flea markets. The one I am currently using
I put together ..years ago.

This year I am planning on moving back to my home area.
When I do I hope to work with my brothers in building
a nice one. One brother is good at welding, another is
good at painting. Me .. I just have a vision ...

Wow lots of silver posts! Also with that listing @GR, I realized you had some crown-sized coins I need for my collection! Hopefully some of them come into my LCS as well seems to be different things every once in a while. Unfortunately before I started my crown collection I sold a 5 Marks (for a $50 profit, so not a complete loss) but haven't seen one there since then (about a year and a half ago). Very nice progress!

That is a interesting box coinguy ... did you pick one up?

If any members are doing something similar .. putting silver away,
Than please post pictures.

------------------------------

I don't like losing focus on filling this box ..

So I did pick up a little more silver this week.
