O give me a home Where the Buffalo roam And I'll show you A messy living room.
Cool set! I like to see the filled dansco albums and I love the way inventive collectors fill the strange holes with really cool coins.

Quote: Did you buy online, coin shows, or local coin shop. I believe I bought all of them on ebay except for maybe a couple. I'm not sure. I already have a complete Peace dollar set, and I've been working on a Morgan set since I started the buffalos. I may just take a break from starting a new one until the time is right. Nothing is screaming at me right now.

This is an inspiring thread. A very nice collection! Appreciate the photos (and including the price paid per nickel is helpful, too).
The details and prices help a novice like me better understand the investment and time required to build a complete set.

Darth If you collected Liberty Walking half dollars you could complete a set in VF condition and not pay close to $1000 for any single coin. In most of the other silver sets there is always one or more coins that are expensive in VF condition. I notice you like strong dates on your coins. The Mercury 1916-D in VF is close to $4000. The LSQ is $7500. Gold coins are the same way only worse and only the Quarter Eagle Indian Head is $2800 in VF condition. I use VF because in that condition you should expect a strong date at least. With LSQ's you may need an EF for coins before 1925 to get a strong date. You have your Morgans but if you want coins with eye appeal you will pay thousands. I am working on a set of Morgans and I will be buying some in just good to VF condition just to fill the set. It is a huge set and at least the 1895 is just about unobtainable. Many others are almost unobtainable beyond VF condition due to cost. However, that is one set that will continue to appreciate I think for investment purposes. The price of silver just does not seem to affect Morgans so much as it does when dealing with gold coins. I see some pretty scarce large gold coins that are not that much more expensive than common ones.

I got another Skull Nickel from my good friend, John Hughey. This time it's a premium 1936. I'm gonna replace the "hatted" hobo next to 1938-D. I just want all my Dansco skulls to be the same because I like them better than anyone else's and for the sake of continuity and because it's a good excuse to get another one. OCD strikes again!

Darth I have got most of the cheaper Morgans by now. When I look on ebay the prices are outrageous like 50% more than Red Book for AU coin. I just don't see any deals on Morgans right now that are scarce. Maybe this is due to recent increase in price of silver. I will go to my LCS and plug holes with lesser coins. I like AU because I like to see a little luster on the coin. I won't be able to do that with many pricewise. I would like to fill all the CC holes with decent coins. There are some very nice large silver world coins that do not see too much over the spot price, but it seems everyone knows the price of silver. The Mercury dimes and a few of the Washington quarters are attractive I think. I got 1932-d and 32-S Washington quarters for decent price, so I got the entire sets of silver Washingtons and Roosevelts. They are not making any more silver circulation American coins.

Quote: I just don't see any deals on Morgans right now that are scarce. I don't either, which is why I'm holding back for the time being. I'm even having a hard time finding coins that I like. Maybe it'll just take time for some of these sellers to get over their coins. Quote: That's an awesome collection! Thanks!
