good evening my friends I have a question. What would cause the letters to break up like this and show the tops of the letters on the rim of the coin. I hope I'm explaining this right lol

Rim-restricted design duplication -- a form of Machine Doubling. This is a very minor example. Some better examples can be seen here:

Is this worth holding onto since its a minor one or should I keep since its called a rare form of michine doubling?

mikediamond: Interesting, never heard of that before.

Nyfireman: Probably hold on to it since it doesn't come up often. It's listed on the link mike gave as "only been detected on Presidential dollars (Washington to Madison), several 1994 cents, and a 2004 cent." I would put it in a 2x2 and have it as an example, won't cost you much.

Actually, it's now more widespread. It appears in 1979 dimes and 1981 and 1982 quarters. I'm sure there are more cases out there.
