So I'm sorting through mountains and mountains of wheat pennies, loose, rolled and in albums, and I notice a roll of 1968 S Lincoln Memorial Cents. Are these special for some reason? Having a hard time knowing what I'm looking for here.

Are they circulated or brand new uncirculated condition?

They are very shiny but I can see some wear on some of them, so I'm guessing circulated

1968 was the last year for the obverse master hub and first S minted cents produced in a long time. The obverse master hub was slightly redesigned for 1969. I suspect you have what we call a "BU roll", in other words, a roll of red, uncirculated coins. They may appear worn because the master obverse hub in 1968 was very worn and produced "weak" dies.

This is what is referred to as a BU (mint state) 1968 cent. If your coins look like this, then they are mint state.

While I didn't find a roll, I did get one in circulation here in the Tampa area the other day. I thought it was a proof that somehow made it into circulation too. It's one of the best looking LMCs I've ever found in circulation. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for the info. I tried to take a picture, but I'm just using my phone and never realized how hard it is to take a picture of something shiny.
