I'm still looking for any of those Hungarian denars (they seem to be very rare over here), but I do have some dated 16th century coins from other places... Boris Feodorovich Godunov, wire kopek, Pskov mint. 7107 AM (1599 AD). The date, as visible on the coin, is probably best described as [7]1[07] - the only actually visible "digit" is the P, which stands for 100 (the other two letters are the mintmark). The thousands digit was never actually mentioned on the coins until the switch to AD dates in 1700; as for the remaining digit (the letter for it, if it was there, would've looked like a 3; actually, it should've been on the flan, so I'm not sure why it's not visible), I identified it through the catalogue - apparently this was a one-year type (for this mint, anyway). This was my first dated coin from the Time of Troubles. I think I now have two (three counting the misleadingly-dated Swedish Novgorod coin). EDIT: and I made this photo with a webcam, of all things, so sorry for the quality.

It shows a date of 1451,but should be a 1541 K-B Hungarian Denar under King Ferdinand I. This design didn't exist in 1451 and Ferdinand I ruled from 1526-64.

Nice coin @EddieDiz! Here is another coin from the same year (1500) and Habsburg Territory (Salzburg). This batzen has an obv inscription of "SANCTUS RUDBERT 9 EPS" and the rev inscription is "LEONARD 9 ARCHIEPI SAL 1500 L". The attribution is Levinson IV-64.

And here's my own Salzburg pfennig - from 1521, during the "reign" of Matthaus Lang von Wellenburg... And that's it for my dated 16th century coins with pre-existing photos, unfortunately. I have three other dated 16th century coins (one of which was only bought a few weeks ago), and a few undated ones - including one with a photo, which I'll probably post later.

Quote: On to the 16th century! This is fine, but I am anxious to see the 15th century since the HFBCWG threads are stuck waiting for 1491. I want to see what we have been missing beyond that date.
