Quote: [edit: The correct attribution is Roberts 5784 since it was minted in Dijon. You can sorta read the rev legend DIV ION EN SIS.] What few people know about Dijon: That city gave the name to a blue fabric, better known as blue jeans (bleu de Dijon)

@petrus, that is quite a bolus of coins to digest! Thanks for sharing them.
With regard to your coin said to be minted in Hainault by William I, the attribution should be Roberts #8215. In that case, the obv legend should be something like VALENCENENCIS and the rev legend (with the lion) should be something like G.COMES.MANORIE. I'm not sure that this is a fit with your coin though--what are your thoughts on the inscription?

Quote: Did you see my determination of the two Brabant coins of Jean III. You tell us it is from Luxembourg. I think your coin is 50 years older and also Louvain Yes Petrus, very interesting. As the designs are very similar, I think that it comes down to the first few letters of the obv legend. Is it BRAB (as in the coins that you posted) or M:AR (as I had previously been interpreting)? That is the question. I have blown up that detail from my coin below and am inclined to agree with you that my prior attribution was wrong. It certainly looks like BRAB, doesn't it? Thanks for the help!!
