I went a little Ike crazy (Ikcrazy?) . These 1976 Type 1 Ikes were priced to sell, and I couldn't resist. I am very fond of this issue because of how well they tend to tone to brilliant golden hues. Their mintage number tells the story too- just 4,019,000 compared to a staggering 113,318,000 for the Type 2. I believe this issue is underrated. Gem specimens are truly something to behold- superb strikes with bolder definition of the devices and smooth satiny luster. Some may even have mirrored surfaces.

I already knew the seller from a previous purchase I made - the 1972 Type 2. We communicated on the Ike Group forum for a time after that purchase. I was really impressed with her ability to cherry pick Ikes. When I realized she was the one selling these Ikes I jumped on them as quickly as I could load them into my cart. I fully trust her assessments. I knew I would not be disappointed. Even the MS63 has tremendous eye appeal.

Along with the bicentennials, I also upgraded my 1971 to MS65. The toning is a color combination of steel blue and smoky gray hues. Man, I love adding new Ikes to the PCGS stash. It's a little. . . addicting. GR58 and his quarters are coming to mind right now. Without further adieu, here we go . . . . . .

1971 MS65 (I will never be able to upgrade to MS66, but a MS65+ might be possible):

The lone MS63 Type 1 - very nice for the grade:

I like the '71 and love the MS-65 '76 t I. They're both solid for the grade from the pictures.

A lot of people just don't realize how tough the '76 type I is even in MS-64. Really nice MS-65's are super tough.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Truly

What a great group of pickups... You've inspired me to go home tonight and pull my Ike album out and look to see what needs to be upgraded.
