Silver eagles have such classic design. To me they almost rate as commemorative type. I have full set of LWH dollars and I have loved that design for 60 years since I was a small boy. The Mercury dime, Buffalo, LSQ and Saint-Gaudens types are so beautiful I think the designs will live forever in the hearts of coin collectors. What does 1986 Silver Eagle in near proof condition go for these days? That would be a pretty easy coin to collect and is also a way for silver bugs to give into their cravings. I crave gold coins but just cannot afford the ones I want at present. I bet fact that Turkey has blown up will tend to drive both silver and gold prices upward. These are the type of events that drive precious metals. Are they safe havens? I am not so sure but you have to act fast.

I forgot about end-of-page wrap-up time again. Anyway, here's the last non-gold virtual page: Note: this page doesn't line up exactly with a real 7070.

The Type 1 $1 is my favorite gold coin of the series, but unfortunately, I do not own one yet. Perhaps soon.

If I'd bought this on ebay, it could have featured on our 'Worst Coins on ebay' thread, but I got it from a coin shop! It was very cheap (roughly gold content price about 20 years ago) and I got a nice Spade Guinea at the same time!
