Here's a few for your collection: Norway 2 Øre Norway 25 Øre Croatia 1 Kuna Albania 1 Lek Albania 5 Leke Armenian coins all have birds on them. For example: Austria 1 Grosche Lots of other Austrian pre-Euro coins have birds on them. Bosnia and Herzegovina 2 Convertible Mark and 5 Convertible mark Anyway, now that I think of it, many of my coins (a few hundred, I guess) actually have birds on them...

Hungarian 5 Forint Hungarian 50 Forint All modern Icelandic coins of 5 Kronur and more have a bit of bird. For example: Modern Indonesian coins have birds on at least one side. Some coins have them on the other side, too, like for example: 25 Rupiah: 100 Rupiah: 200 Rupiah: Iran 500 Rial: And another version: Modern coins from Kyrgyzstan have birds on them. For example the 1 Som coin: Macedonia 10 Denari: Might post more later on.

Thanks everyone for posting their bird coins, most of these I haven't seen before. Lots of beautiful coins, I can't wait to add some of these to my collection. I haven't been on here for a while, life has been really busy as of late.

Most of the Euro are new to me as well, I don't have many Euro at all. They're pretty hard to find here in Australia.

Digging further in my collection, here's more: Moldova 5 Bani Same goes for the 10, 25 and 50 Bani. New Zealand (Might have been posted already) 1 Dollar 2 Dollar Norway 2 Øre 25 Øre 1 Krone Poland Every single coin of the current Zloty series, plus many more from previous Zlotych. For example the current 5 Zloty Russia: Most Ruble coins (not Kopeks) have a double headed birdy on them. For example, the old 20 Ruble from 1992. Slovenia 2 Tolar 20 Tolar South Africa Several variants of the 5 cent coin: The latter has two sides with birds! In fact all 2011 coinage has that. South Korea 500 Won Spain A lot of Spanish coinage from the Franco and Juan Carlos I era (maybe even earlier, but I don't have many coins there) has the Spanish coat of arms, which contains a bird. For example: United Arab Emirates I happen to have a commemorative 1 Dirham coin with a tiny bird on it. Yugoslavia: The Novi Dinar coinage from the end of the 20th century had some birds on it.For example, 1 Novi Dinar: That's it for my collection at the moment, it seems...

Quote: I'm a notice ornithologist, I've birded everywhere I've traveled to in the last 11 years. So I thought what a great collection for me, coins with birds on them. It hasn't been growing for very long far, with only 24 circulated coins, not much considering how many bird coins there are. Crjenkins, When I was in grade school I wanted to be an ornithologist when I grew up. They called me "bird brain" in 4th grade because of my obsession and extensive knowledge of birds. Recently, when I discovered the 1894 & 1895 German New Guinea coins (10 Pfennig, 1/2, 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 Mark), I decided I want to start a bird collection, as well. I do not yet own one of these beauties, as they are a little rare and expensive (honestly I would prefer to hold out for the silver). I am not sure if it would be allowed to post an image I do not own. Here are a couple of mine which I love partly because the crane is my favorite bird: Japan 1923 50 Sen: Japan 1957 100 Yen:

Quote: I haven't seen many proofs in this thread... Ask, and ye shall receive... These are past silver bin finds, however, so they are far from perfect. 1974 British Virgin Islands Silver $1: 1972 Trinidad and Tobago Silver $5: 1946 Guatemala Silver 1/4 Quetzal: And here is a Zimbabwe cent, which I like, with an African Fish Eagle on top of a crown: I have others not on this thread, but these seemed more interesting at the moment.
