Cool but it won't wear down much.

True! But interesting - seems to have a lot of age.

is there protection on the inside of the pocket from the rivet head? I would hate for your pocket piece to get an ugly scratch across her face?

Yes there is protection, I closed it up with lamb leather, the dark brown is cow hide and the black leather is buffalo skin.

Nifty little thing! Coin won't get much wear this way, but it's also a neat way to protect it!

I myself am seriously considering getting a new wallet with a coin pouch for my pocket piece(s). Probably about half of my jeans, shorts, and work pants now have holes or tears in the right front pockets. I haven't lost anything yet but it's only a matter of time.

The ideal leather for a wallet is sheepskin, it's soft but tough and will mold quite nice. and remember leather care it is very important

As someone who curses jewelry makers when I see a holed or coins with rim damage, thank you for not damaging the coin (assuming it is protected from the clasp on the inside).
