I see it in negative way.
2, max 3 coins for this will be enough, but looks like will be series.

If RCM atleast in 30% of these coins will put an effort - will be great, otherwise, it just trying to make money from nothing.
Without thoughtful design, what to we expect to see here?
**Space crafts - oh well, this good, but not too much;
**the characters? They just actors, who already hate to be associated with this movie.
**Scenes from the movie? The way how was done for Batman vs Superman - it just ugly.

But actually what many look for? Just the coin "do well"

Well...if the gold coin is pure and not 14k...then the question is weight...and price.
RCM gold coins of late for these kinds of themes have not sold out...ie Looney Tunes and Batman...so...lower mintage of 2000 max in pure format...priced at 750 will likely be instant sellout...and of course depends on design.

Any idea of what the gold coin will go for? The RCM sells 1 oz pure gold coins for around $2699. If the RCM sells a pure gold Star Trek coin for less than $1000 it must be pretty small.

If the design is good, there is potential; the gold coin could be the next 2013 Gold Superman. I suggest people order quickly when it becomes available as it may be a quick sell out.

Agree with this.

And remember about 30 days return option.
Didn't like it or didn't manage to sell - just return to RCM and get money back.
This better, than to regret later for not buying.

Hey, if someone can pay $3700 for a ticket to a Star Trek convention, I don't see why they can't afford a gold Star Trek coin LOL!

some people, in addition to enjoying these conventions as a fans, make some money on it, which could partially or fully to cover the expenses. Take a look, what he get with the ticket:

"4) Special limited edition collector's coin, the 15th in our series of Star Trek Gold Coins. Always a true souvenir keepsake, enjoy this $25 value which is part of being a COMMANDER'S SEAT Convention Goer!

5) Your own "Creation Trek-Treat Card" which is filled with free gifts and bonus offers that you get in the vendors room. A definitely awesome, fun extra value benefit! "

All the stuff above is very limited and highly collectible, and many items go directly to ebay for prices 3xIssue (I know that it works this way for Disney Cars die-cast, so here probably the same).

and you right CoinCanuck, even 1oz gold coin for the new theme will be gone fast (depends on design though), after it, the coin could go to collectors or flood the ebay, let's see.

Same as collectors buying a few extra coins they like, to help support their numis addictions.

Any other "traditionalists" disappointed with the Star Trek gold coin? Got a sneak-peak of the coin today, and I think "coin" is once again being used very loosely with this release.

Where did you get a sneak peak of it? I went to the local post office and they only have the coin/stamp set and the silver coin in the brochure.

Also, how much is it?

Can't get my source into trouble, but... noticed this evening that C4F on E-bay has a very pixelated rendering online: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2016-Canada-...i=RTM2247625

Thanks! The suspense was killing me.

I'm assuming that this $200 coin(?) is 1/2oz.

Please feel free to correct my assumption.

Thank you, Blastofffireworks, for the URL

Disappointed...
But since I do not collect the gold, I less case.

What I see here , this is unusual shape "Palau/Niue-style" token. But intuition tell me that this will be highly popular. People like this stuff....and it priced in the "comfort zone" for majority of heavy collectors or re-sellers. (remember about 30-days return policy).

That is a piece of (bad) jewellery. Who would pay $1500 for that?

Then again, somehow, last year the Mint found 15000 people willing to spend $150 on a one ounce slab of silver shaped like a maple leaf.
