I new to this and Ive spent the last few days making my way though a big back of coins sifting and sorting. I came across this 1961 penny and scoped it out. It wasn't like the rest of the pennies and so I found a dime and it looks to be roughly the same circumference as the dime and thickness. Anybody know what I got here?

A "slug" to fool vending machines. With a file and a little bit of time you could get a candy bar from a vending machine instead of only a gumball.

Interesting 1961 DOWNSIZED Lincoln Cent. But then that is the law of economics. When the money supply shrinks money becomes more valuable. Although I'm sure the economists had files in mind for pedicures and not coins!
