Clipped Planchet Penny? - Coin Community Forum

J4337 Valued Member United States 79 Posts	Posted 05/04/2016 02:01 am Hello all, I found this roll hunting today. Could this be a clipped planchet? Or should I assume that it's been tampered with since it has a strange blue/rainbowish finish? I've been noticing this color in quite a few coins recently..I attached a photo at an odd angle to show the finish that I'm talking about. * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

Neo13x Pillar of the Community United States 604 Posts	Posted 05/04/2016 07:36 am It is hard to tell from the pictures but it does looks to have the "Blakesley effect". Try to look at "UNITED" and see if the letters flow toward the clip. Report this Post to the Staff
