1973 Mountie Quarters

Good for you Ace and deserved with your persistence. The silvers were certainly gravy on the large bust score. It was mentioned earlier on about working in banks, my daughter works for a credit union and she tells me that pretty well all that work there have zero interest in coins and or bills, due to them seeing them and dealing with them day in and day out lol. Kind of ironic when a person has direct access and zero interest lol.

Well turns out that even with an agreed signed document that there are still people out there that will go back on their word no matter the situation. Payment in full today, but mind you I did spend extra time sourcing a large piece of cedar and did a custom turning for the base of a pillar at the front of their house to keep it in the original fashion of back to about 1905. And this is the thanks I get, they decided to not fullfill their part of the contract where it was stipulated that I receive 1 roll of their 12 rolls of 1973 quarters. It's too bad that in this life so many people have words that contain no value! I'll post pics later and you be the judge lol. My work is top drawer............

Oh by the way nothing was mentioned about my work done. They absolutely loved it.

Well, today I received an email from the lady who was to give me a roll of quarters from 1973 when her husband put them in the safe deposit box. Turned out she found the original agreement stating such and as of this Thursday they will be in my hand, still in the original wrapper not searched. She had realized her mistake and with full apology too. Crossing my fingers...............will keep you posted on the results towards the weekend.

I'm not too sure of the history of the fellow who set these aside, I do know that he was well versed in investments, so when I get these in hand the first pic will be of the roll, at which time perhaps those of you that know the look of an original roll from back then can verify it to the thread. I can pick up the roll tomorrow according to a new email, so,,,,,,,,,,,,,onwards and upwards right lol.

No winners, but quite a few that look real good, they'll certainly fill the empty spaces in the 73 quarter slots.

This one seems to have a slight cameo effect to it, there's a few marks that look like they're on the bust, they're actually on my loupe. The Obverse isn't showing it that well compared to the reverse. So 14 of them didn't make the cut for keepers, the rest faired pretty good and a select 6 are pretty well mark free on the bust and in the fields. One had machine roller marks on it. All good, perhaps next time it'll arrive at my door lol.

Last year I was brought a bag of 927 mountie quarters found in a barn. Not a single large bust. Just as an FYI, only one showed up at the store in the last 3 years. The guy asked me to look through a handful of change asking if he should bring them to the bank. He had three mounties and one of them was a circulated LB. I offered him $60 after which he says, "Naaaah, I think I'll keep it"...

Today I was at this lady's cottage rodent proofing the dormer's, them red squirrels can get in any where it seems, we talked about all the rolls she has tucked away in the safe deposit box, her late husband of just over 10 years had taken them all out of circulation each and every day. She has never said if he ever found a large bust, perhap's yes or no, but maybe so and why she's never offered an answer.......

It's pretty cool how sometimes as we search out what we want, the roads we travel for such.
