Title is pretty much self explainatory. Pocket change find, caught my eye right away.

None of the marks go through the rim. There also is no transfer from a double strike. Weird one. Nice picture by the way.

It sure looks like a lamination error but weird. Heavily circulated. Interesting find. It looks like the de-lamination happened before striking.this is just speculation as I am not an expert.

Are the ridges as 3D as they look? Can you feel them when you run your fingers across?

Yes I can feel the ridges, although the difference is rather small. I'd say about 0.25mm. First thought the coin was simply dirty, like coins stuck together in a car change holder with coffee dripped on them, due to the round shape of one of the lines.

Loon dollars are plated coins... this could be a plating or lamination error?
