Here is a very beautiful coin.
This coin has "shah" written in Persian script in relief inside an incuse circle on the obverse. On the reverse 194x can be read on the upper line. On the bottom line "889" can be seen. It is possible that they mean VS.1946 and AD.1889.

Very interesting. At first, I thought that the "shah" design on the coin from Cambay was a punch, but clearly it is an incuse design. Thanks again for sharing.

A coin of Naranarayana (1555-87.AD)

Coins-Of-India---Indian-Princely-States

There is a very interesting similarity between the reverse legends of this coin issued between 1555-87.AD and that on the Ahom coins of the ruler Pramattasimha issued between 1739 and 1744.AD.

This coins reads " SriSri Siva charana kamalamathi karasya". Ahom coin reads "SriSri Hara Gowree charana kamalamathi karasya". Hara in Hindu mythology is Siva and Gowri is Lord Siva's wife Parvathi the Goddess of Power.
And these coins were issued two centuries apart from two different areas and two rulers of different dynasties.

Coorg:
This was an independent kingdom until 1834.AD, when it became part of British India. Now it is part of the state of Karnataka.

This is a tiny gold coin weighing 400mg. The pattern is typical South Indian. Obverse is a design that is debated. Some consider this as a stylised leopard and some as a divine symbol "Ohm". Reverse design shows twelve dots known as "rasi" meaning the twelve months of the local calendar placed over something that looks like a scabbard with a knife. Some call this as "lazy J" when it occurs on Kochi coins of the same pattern. Similar looking but slightly different pattern can also be seen on coins of Travancore, Tanjavoor Maratha etc.
