I view this pretty much like I view most of Daniel Carr's stuff.

I mean unless the SF mint was minting Canadian quarters(which they weren't) then there's no way any TPG should of slabbed this is my opinion it encourages erroneous behavior

It's a genuine mint product. The grading services do not differentiate between intentional errors and spontaneous errors. Their only concern is whether the coin was produced on mint equipment.

It's nice to know they don't have any ethics.Calling it an error is just wrong. What's the problem with putting mint assisted error on the label. Now because of this coin the wackos are coming out of the wood work with their genuine mint error. The problem with the approach you suggest is that there are a significant number of errors that may or may not be assisted. There's no way to adjudicate their status. Therefore, all mint-produced errors are candidates for encapsulation. This includes spontaneous errors, spontaneous errors that were subsequently smuggled out, intentional errors that left the mint through normal channels, and intentional errors that were smuggled out.

I'm waiting for a mint employee to turn the tables and strike a coin on a Carr overstrike. Talk about a coins journey lol

There is no reason in the world this coin could not have been labeled "Mint assisted error". I'm not talking about other questionable errors but this one in particular. I understand TPG services don't differentiate between the two terms, Maybe it's time they did

I first saw this coin while watching the Chicago morning news -- and they made it sound like it had already been sold for 30K. But there it is....
