After the nail/dime I'm not surprised at Canadian/US quarter. It's ingenious how they moved them out of a secure area. I thought maybe the person swallowed it and then, you know.

I find it amazing that these two coins were slabbed, yet the TPG's wouldn't touch the infamous 1972 over 1964 silver quarter that turned up here a few years ago. I imagine if Mike Beyers had submitted it, it would have been slabbed just like these two were.

Heh, I wish it was mine

Unfortunately, I only saved the obverse image but you should be able to find the original post along with the reverse image in the forum archives.

Now why didn't it surprise me that Fox News (is it really news that they do?) covered this... along with every lie, innuendo, rumor, and just plain made-up stories.

Or these:
These coins wouldn't fit into the collar so it must have been a mint assisted errors:

"Assisted strike"

Great euphemism for: "Deliberate error fraud"

My sister who knows nothing of coins just told me she saw a story about a $30K quarter from 1970 and told me to look through all my coins. My jaw dropped. This story sure is getting around if she knows about it!

I think these "rogue errors" are neat. Just imagine the straight up gumption it took to do it. But I'm a non-conformist that can appriciate such things

I tend to be a non-conformist, too, cascade, but, I think things like this will promote more deliberate errors. Imagine how much someone might pay a corrupt mint worker - if that's possible - to produce such a coin, so they can turn around and resell it.

And, we thought just the refs were crooked!
