1878-A Prussian 10 Mark Struck In Silver? Spielgeld?

Paul Bulgerin Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 06/13/2016 6:15 pm Out of curiosity I purchased an 1878-A Prussian 10 Mark coin that appears to be struck in silver and not gold. The style looks very good and the coin has seen some moderate use or circulation. It's obviously not a mint product, but I can't find anything online about it. Does anyone know if it is an old Spielgeld (play money) piece? Is it something else? The edges are not reeded. Thanks for any help that can be given. Paul Bulgerin Report this Post to the Staff

UltraRant Pillar of the Community Norway 1358 Posts	Posted 06/14/2016 05:45 am Looks like a fantasy / play coin (Spielgeld). It's definitely not silver, as it would be much heavier if it was silver. It might also be one of those Chinese fakes, as the coin seems quite worn and colored (which is not 'normal' for Spielgeld, but is usual for such imitation coinage).
