The hint for 10 seems to be pointing to Mexico (1 centavo?). Would 40 be from the (first) Slovak Republic? Also, would 77 be from Brazil?

Great - all three are correct!
(this particular Brazilian coin was 50 centavos and the Slovak one - 1 KS)

53 is from the German Democratic Republic (East Germany)- 1,5 or 10 pfennig, while 54 is from Saarland - 10, 20 or 50 franken

Very good, both correct (1 pfennig and 10 franken in this case).

66 is Chile, 2,5 or 10 centesimos de escudo. I first thought the small round beneath the date was part of the Mexico mint mark, but only after that I thought of the Santiago mint mark.

Indeed, 66 is Chile 2 centesimos. I did leave part of the mintmark on purpose, though it seems it turned out to be more confusing rather than helpful...

I am quite confident 45 could be the last Netherlands East Indies coin, a 1/10 or 1/4 gulden

That is correct, 45 is a 1/10 gulden.
Currently 56/100 identified. Based on the rapidly diminishing number of guesses, is that it? Any wild guesses left?

It was actually a shilling but anyway, 51 is indeed New Zealand.
Hints: 13 looks rather generic. The types with this design had face values of 5, 10, 15, and 20. This alone should make it rather obvious, I think. 21 features a flying woman with a torch. Some sort of symbolism probably. 36 was the last year for that type which included 2 denominations. The new type was also minted from that year onward. The new type from that year is more expensive than the featured type. 71 had a fish on the other side. The English text surrounding it suggests the fish is edible. 72 is a silver circulation coin. Which country still had them by then? And it's not the last date for this type either.
