The only official UK coin available individually to commemorate the anniversary of the battle A Limited Edition Presentation of just 1,916 Struck in 925 sterling silver Produced in collaboration with Imperial War Museums Product code: UK16BSSP Limited Edition Presentation: 1,916
So, this coin was advertised as having just 1916 individual copies to commemorate the 100 year anniversary, with 4000 total. Was showing as 90% sold this morning, then suddenly ten minutes later they double the individual mintage to 4000 and total to 6000.
Anybody else notice this? Is it allowed. Has it occurred before as a trick by mints when a coin is popular.
I rang them and they said it was a mistake due to differences in overall mintage as this coin is in another set. I mentioned that the differential mintage between the individual coin and total mintage hadn't changed, just the mintage of the single coin. The representative then seemed a bit confused and said I can speak to a manager, who then wasn't available.
It's taken away a huge amount of confidence I had in The Royal Mint.
