I was a sucker and bought a common-date Morgan for $50+ graded "MS66" and a not-so-common half-eagle for $450+ graded "MS65". I do believe that the latter is an MS60 at least (i.e. BU). Clearly, I was taken for $100 or more. Does anyone out there have an opinion as to whether I should crack open the slabs and keep them raw in a 2X2 or live with the lie and evidence of being suckered? What's worse... the guy who goes by "Coinmadz101" on ebay coerces customers into not leaving negative feedback once they've found him out. Check his store he has over 50 mutually retracted comments!! I closed my ebay account and no longer care about this deceptive dude. There's enough on him on the net to discourage anyone except those as I naive as I was. Comments welcome...

With the new rules, you can now leave feedback to sellers like these without fear of retaliation. He is just full of hot air. You cannot "sue" someone for a negative feedback if the intent was not malicious.
I made a mistake of buying one of his coins too. I later resold it at a small loss. Small price to pay for a big lesson learned.

Quenton,

I have one NAC graded coin ... it's a 1946 Walking Liberty half graded MS 68. It is a solid 64 and could go 65. I paid MS 60 for it. I watch alot of these slabs on ebay go for much more than they are worth. The big three peddlers of these fantasy pieces are ABONCOM, Coinmadz, and Ravelex. If I see a worthwhile piece, I watch for an opportunity at a bargain. I would never resell a coin in one of these slabs without a corrected grade in bold text.

Check out the "grading" thread and learn some of the basics. Knowledge is key!

P.S. - That Walker is still in its slab.
Rest in Peace

We have a great time in Oz buying unslabbed coins.
They don't exist.
We don't have to learn by our mistakes.
Buy the coin, not the advertising.
regards
