Thanks, everyone! I was looking through the box sitting in my car downtown outside the bank, and if it had been a warm day and I had the windows rolled down everybody would have been startled to hear "A BARBER!!" (might have been some other unprintable exclamation before that, too!). Anybody can find great stuff, just look at foundinrolls's web page of his finds. That's impressive!

Working on a cent box right now; I usually take awhile to do a cent box, as I work mostly with nickels and halves, but I couldn't just do a few rolls a day with this box! With 8 rolls to go this box has already given up 63 wheat cents, including 6 Steels! The oldest has been a 1928. Mostly average circulated, except for a sweet shiny 1950s. Looking forward to the rest of the box!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

Ended up with a total of 64 Wheats! Another bank I need to go back to tomorrow; maybe they have more boxes from the same run!

Sometimes I think during tougher times, the hint of a recession, high gas prices and the cost of groceries and heating the house is out of site! I think a lot of people go take rolled coins, drawer accumulations, and piggy bank money to the bank and they get loose in the world again.

And little do these people know, as they tote their silver coins to their banks to be rolled up and deposited for face value that they are spending the one thing that, as inflation runs rampant and consumer prices rise, the value of it is going UP!

Thats some good stuff there.

Is there any place where I can read up about the diffrent years of the .50 and just get a better understanding of whats valuable? My grandmother has a jar full from when she was a child.

That is awesome great find. I hope to find boxes like that! I know they are out there. I found 1 box last week with 70 40%'s and thought that was awesome but a barber rocks!

First, the bad news.
I had ordered four boxes; they only sent two. As far as bad news is concerned, that's all there is!

Now, the good news!
I am only able to buy one box at a time because I don't have $1000 sitting around! So, I bought one, went out to the car, and opened the lid. When I immediately saw two Walkers staring up at me I knew I was in for some fun!

I've opened the whole box; details will follow in a few hours, as I still have some stuff to do before I get home. Unfortunately, no Barbers this time!!

OK; here's the breakdown of the good stuff; I did record every date and I will put that on the JFK Half Dollar analysis post.

First of all, two foreign coins, which unfortunately I had to replace with halves (I don't think either of these coins were worth 50 cents each)! They are:

1975 Italy 100 Lira
1992 Germany 5 Deutschmark

Also found two proofs:

1987s
1969s (circulated enough that I'm just going to throw it in the junk silver, but you can still tell it is a proof

And a grand total (including the 69s) of 58 silver halves (16 90%, 42 40%)

3 90% Kennedys (2 of them "D")
2 Franklins (52d,63d)
11 Walkers (35,41,(2)42,(3)43,43s,44d,44s,45)

and, NO BARBER!!

Still, more silver than the first box a few weeks ago! Looking forward to tomorrow's box; I'll report the results
