Two questions:

1. How do I request a monster box of halves?

2. How do I return the ones I don't want?

Welcome to the forum, Bronxman95!

Two answers:

1. Just go to your bank and ask for one! If they decline to assist you, try another branch or another bank.

2. Return them to the bank, preferably not the same one you got them from. This prevents you from getting your searched coins back again and from annoying the employees of that bank. The other option is to spend them, if you can afford to.

BTW, My fed reserve bank is Chicago as I live near Detroit. What type of luck have Midwesterners had at finding silver coins. I notice the Boston region is hot.

I am in the Madison WI area (also served by Chicago). I did 2 boxes of halves back in January but it turned out that someone else was doing 2 boxes of these every week from the same branch. So I only managed to get 3 40% halves and that was it. There were a few 2001P and after halves that I kept because they werent released for general circulation.

yea, I think i'll stick to just taking one roll from local banks. Sounds like there will be slim pickings from the Chicago Fed.

Well, did that second box today. I was in for a rude awakening! All the box yielded was one 90% (1964) and seven 40%. Nothing else exciting whatsoever. I did notice that a good number (but not all) of the 1974d's in box a black Sharpie circle on the front of them. Looks like somebody was not just searching rolls but '74d doubled dies too! But, I'm hoping that was just a fluke; I still have two more coming next Wednesday. Stay tuned!

I bought a pretty good box on Wednesday. It contained the following: 12-90%, 22-40%, 74 DDO, 82 no FG, 1-2006P, and a 2007S. Of the 12-90%, there was 1-Walker, 1-Franklin, and 10-1964s. I was really stoked about finding the 74 DDO, because out of the many thousands of dollars worth of halves that I've searched it was the first one I've ever found.

I bought two more boxes from the bank that I got the original Barber half from a few weeks ago. The first box was good; 7 90%, including a 1941 Walker, and 21 40%. The second box started slower, but I looked in the box after the first row was done. The bottom row was revealed; the photos tell the story.

LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN!!

Another Barber! Turns out to be a 1912-D in Good. And on the end of a roll, no less!! Still working on the rest of the box, will post results later.

so guys, nice finds. I also finished looking through my box of halves. Here are the results.
1 1964
3 1969
6 1968
6 1967
5 2006 D (i dont know if I should keep these or not. I did hear that they were NIFC but dont know, can you all help?)

Also, I have heard from memebers here that the 1999 P was one to save b/c one 8,900,000 were let out. Is this true? Thanks. Ohh and if anyone would like to trade a 2002 through 2005 half for one of my 06, please tell me. Thanks guys, keep finding those silvers.
