Of course we all know this was added after the strike, but kind of neat huh? I believe he became president in 1960, but have no clue to what the 1980 could be. Everyone old enough to understand when he was assassinated remembers where they were at the time. Nov 22 1963

It was a gimmick back in the 80's. Marketed as a commemorative 20th anniversary thing for Kennedy. As I recall, there were 1960-1985s out there too that marked the 25th anniversary. Electro-plated with gold. I can't imagine it's worth anything more than face nowadays. I think they were like 5 or 6 bucks back then.

I know it sounds crazy. but one of my first memories is of my mother standing in front of the TV staring at it and crying. The horrified look on her face was enough to shock me into remembering the event.

I don't know how I asked the question, but her answer was, "A very important man was just shot."

November 22, 1963... I was one year and 13 days old. All I can figure is that a baby seeing his Mother in so much shock is what imprinted this moment on me. I can even see the black and white set up on legs like they used to make them.

I stood at his grave for the first time in my life last winter. I could not keep the tears from flowing. A lot of what was America died that day. I don't appreciate his private life, but he was a true patriotic man through and through.

I also found a couple of these coins roll hunting a couple years ago. I still have them. Mine are not gold plated.

Oh so that's what it is. This one is plated silver. I too was a young child. I was in the back seat in Canada, just left Alaska on our way to Key West. My father was in the military. The news came over the radio. My parents were very very upset. He truly was a patriot, his brother too. Our country lost big that day. Hopefully we'll elect a patriot this year.

I don't remember the assassination, but I do remember the funeral. As with Earle it is one of my earliest memories. I was not quite 3 years old.
