I noticed in the TCNC November Torex auction there 3 dimes, 1938, 1948, and 1950 all in MS-66 ICCS graded...I had noticed these same coins were auctioned in June by the same auction house and not sure why they are coming back to the market so quickly... Also, if anyone would care to have a look at each one, I am curious to hear if people think each one is a solid MS-66...any thoughts on these would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Hi thedollarman...I checked out the June TCNC auction...the three coins were listed as sold for $2645, $1495, and $488 respectively...it seems odd that these three dimes are listed for auction again so soon

(I'm skeptical of this situation is likely but it's possible) 2) The auction company really didn't sell the coins but listed them as a sold to set a standard (precedent) of what coins of this grade should be selling for. 3) The auction company had someone that was bidding on this coin but they weren't getting the price they wanted and shilled the bidding up to the price they wanted...no biters there so they relist and try again in the next auction...

or maybe the seller needed to recover his money very quickly..i know at least I and likely many on here have bought a coin and needed to resell it soon after for money.

Interesting thoughts...I suppose it would be worth contacting the auctioneer to check out what's happened, if the coins are being resold, or possibly the original buyer didn't come through on payment?

TCNC is well known for implementing AgCoinAu's #'s 2 & 3 above. You will find, if you follow their auctions, that a good portion of their items have been relisted from previous ones. They own the coins and will keep auctioning them until they actually sell.

I would certainly agree with okiecoiner. All the auction houses do this to some degree when including their own material in their auctions. There are several ways for the auction firms to protect their investments. Just remember when you have met the posted reserve on a lot, you could still be bidding against the House.

Why would you remove any bids? You should bid what you think the coin is worth to you. If they accept your bid and they sell it to you, no problem. I'll just say that not all of their stuff is fresh and been off the market... you can read between the lines.
