Yes, that is true. Total extension is what matters. It's critical to minimize no matter where it is in the optical path in order to get lower magnification.

My first sentence was, "I'm no expert".
I was apparently incorrect about pre bellows vs post bellows spacers. But then doesn't that means by removing the helicoid at the end of the bellows would make his 75mm lens more functional by being able to focus on a wider variety of coin sizes? This was my point in the first place.
