I came across an article on a website that mainly features articles on the rush to buy gold and silver bullion. I avoid these articles because they are a selling platform and mild scare tactic to buy gold and silver.

But every once and a while there is 1 or 2 articles that catch my eye and I will say right now I am no way an end of the world type of person. This article entitled " The war on cash" written by Jim Rickards was interesting because of the type of information presented involving BEPS and the deflation of the dollar. I heard of this acronym before but paid mind to it.

There are links in this article that lead you to buy Gold etc etc but its the information within that made me read this. Its on the (124) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed website. Curious to know what you think.

The world didn't end in the late 1970's. Governments screw up money, it's not a conspiracy theory, just the way the world works. IMHO, you should have at least a small percentage of your savings in physical gold and silver kept in your possession.

It's been said that only a tiny percentage own PM's to carry into the next monetary system. The majority, also a tiny percentage, will just dump it back into the market when the time is right.

These guys use scare tactics to sell their programs and wealth preservation plans. When it's all said and done they receive commissions on everything sold. How many times have we seen the "250$ silver and 10000$ gold within 18 months" gloom and doom guys the last 20 years? Neither metal has even come close!

I've always heard that you should keep 1/3 of your assets in real estate, 1/3 in stocks and bonds and 1/3 in "cash" (like money in the bank, gold and silver etc).

If you do that it would be pretty hard to go completely broke I would think.

I am a preper. Have a years supply of long term storage food, silver, and wine stored up in case of emergencies. When the soviet union broke apart, I've read they relied on the bartering system to obtain necessities and the 'currency' to use to barter with was fuel, cigarettes and liquor. I doubt many had gold or silver. But this is my 'emergency' stash. One never knows in todays World. Look at our modern society. How reliant we are on electronics for our everyday financial transactions. 'Money' seldom changes hands, it's either debit or credit card. We have an Open Skies Policy, meaning planes from other nations can fly over our nation by merely letting us know they are doing it. Now imagine an Iranian, or other 'unfriendly' flying a plane over and detonating a strong EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) over the heart of America; or an exceptionally strong flare from the sun while the sun is directly overhead the USA. It would take out every microprocessor in the nation. Cars wouldn't run, banks would be down, computers, the stock market, everything that has a microchip! (The military hardware is shielded thankfully) How would we function? The only way is by having a real currency you can hold in your hand that is valued by the seller. I pray we never see that day, but it's better to be prepared than be caught with your pants down. I believe the Worlds economies and monetary systems are too intertwined for one to take down the other. But there has been repeated economic/monetary emergencies in the past, and history always repeats itself.
