I was naïve to believe that every country mints its own coins. I have tried searching in vain to learn which countries have all their coins minted in Korea? I keep searching for a list of countries which do not mint their own coinage, but I cannot find such a list. I believe that all Israeli coinage is minted in Korea, but which other nations do not mint their own coinage? It seems to be kept quiet.

Do you know this site already:

http://www.mintsoftheworld.com/mints.html ?

If the country is not on the list it may mint it's coins abroad. Can't say nothing about Korea tough.

A recent example would be Belarussian circulation coins minted in Slovakia and in Lithuania.
Commemoratives have been minted in Lithuania, Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Finland, Germany (Hamburg), and even by a German company.

This particular case is not a secret, it can be found on their National Bank's website.

I do believe minting is actually a regular commercial business nowadays. Here in Norway, the Royal Norwegian Mint has been sold off and is now a commercial company called The Norwegian Coinworks. They still mainly make coins and commemorative coins for Norway, but also medals, etc.

The Royal Dutch Mint recently almost went bankrupt due to a troublesome delivery to, I thought, Panama or some country nearby.

I do also know that a lot of Central Asian coins are struck by the St. Petersburg mint in Russia.

Euro coins are even more fun. There's a whole circus around how they are minted, and I'm not sure enough on the details to write the whole process here. It's a fun read and quite interesting if you can find it.

I don't know about which coins are exactly minted in Korea.

I have found that Argentinian 1 peso coins were minted in Korea in 1994-96, for what that's worth.

@Eurocoin, I find it surprising that every country on the list actually has its own mint.

The order of Malta has a mint? How could a small organization afford to maintain a mint, with such small numbers minted?

I am also sceptical that Fiji has its own mint. Its coins look so much like those from Australia-they look like they are minted there. All the mint marks listed in Krause are outside of Fiji?
