i will start this off, let me say up front I am a seller and buyer on ebay, but at some point coins have to be considered just scrap silver, all I ask is you post the auction number and the photo, so we can all comment on the coin itself.. just comment on weather the coin should be should as scrap or as numismatic.. and if you happen to be selling one of these coins, please feel free to defend it.. Canadian coins only.. for Mods, if this is in the wrong category, feel free to correct. Edited by silverwolf 08/23/2016 8:45 pm

There are literally thousands of Canadian coins on ebay right now worth only scrap yet priced as if they are collectible. This thread could easily vie for the most pages title in the Canadian section of this forum.

There are literally thousands of coins sold by the RCM that are worth only scrap yet priced as if they are collectibles. But they seem to find lots of customers at extremely large Mark ups. It's all a matter of ones perspective , I would guess.

The highest price a similar 1964 set actually sold for was $36.75. About half the asking price of the set I linked to.

I agree it is a matter of perspective. Many of these coins find buyers especially with new collectors. And how many times have people on this forum "traded up" to a better grade coin?

What is the point of this endeavor? To needlessly nitpick ebay seller's coins?

mu initial point was to illustrate, dateless coins being sold as dated coins, but I was wrong.. where I see virtually no date, others say then can see a date.

The oldest coin in my collection; yes, from a market perspective, it's basically worthless, but from a personal perspective, it's fun to hold a 300 year old coin, and imagine what it would have seen or heard if it had eyes and ears.
