If I've read the date correctly, this coin was minted in 1809 (the last number is hard to read). I believe the "W" shows it was minted in Lille, which would make it a KM 676.9 if indeed the mint date is 1809.

I don't know how to judge its condition, however.
How would this grade?

Thanks.

Thanks for your input and for pointing out the upside down image, which I just corrected.
Guess I shouldn't have been uploading images so late at night! There's even what looks like (but no doubt isn't) a "This side up" arrow at the top.

I admit I am not any expert about the US grading terms, but in Danish/European? grading terms this coin is on top VG.

My first impression is VG to F, maybe the peripheral wear holding it to the former - which shouldn't be taken as being to the detriment to an honest and historically significant piece such as this.

Thanks, all. Although unfortunately this and similary old coins were just tossed into a box with no details regarding when and how they were acquired, my guess is that it was collected or saved by one of my ancestors traveling or living in France in the mid-late 1800s to early 1900s timeframe.
