Well this one was a big shock when I saw it...PCGS gave it an MS64. I`m still scratching my head:

That is disappointing.
i was one of the "detractors" and I was saying 65+. The forum as a whole gave it a 66.

If all my coins were as nice as all my photographs, I'd be a rich man.

Wow, that's surprising. I wonder if they felt there was a bit of terminal toning above the head, enough to knock it down a couple points. But that's the best looking MS-64 I've seen...

Maybe cross it over to NGC...? I think they have a policy where you give them a minimum grade (let's say MS64), and if they don't think it reaches MS64 they will keep it in the PCGS holder. But I can almost guarantee you NGC would put that beauty in a 65, if not a 66 holder.

Yeah, I'm really struggling on the grade, I found they were quite hard on all the Morgans I submitted that order. Great idea Nacer, might try a cross for a couple. I wanted to post it to see if there was something I missed on the coin which has held it back at 64, but seems like I'm not alone.
Rest in Peace

I still see nothing to change my opinion. This is worthy of a gold bean or upgrade. I really think that this is the TPG business model, under-grade classic coins to better the chances of a re-submit.

I suspect the reason was strike weakness - a weakly struck coin, even if absolutely pristine, seldom grades above 64.

I really don't see this as a weakly struck coin. I'm wondering if it's a greased filled die looking at the reverse I G W T motto.

I would have said MS-66.

Maybe you will get a gold sticker from CAC if you send it in...
