Hi Everyone, I picked up the below 1805 5 Berries dime from an auction and it's sitting with PCGS at the moment. They've been dragging their heels grading it so I thought some healthy speculation before the grade is released would be quite fun! The image is from the sale and is not 100% representative of the coin when in hand but its pretty close. The grade should be realised in the next couple days (the estimated grading time has been elapsed) and will post up the grade when I get it! Thanks for looking

VF20, with a shot at VF25, and very Much better than my Fair/AG example of the same...

A nice VF 25, not sure about the toning, but the coin has a nice overall appearance. And, you will be glad to know that of the 2 die pair varieties for the year, JR-1 and JR-2, (named after the die engraver John Reich), you have an example of JR-1 with 5 berries on the bunch. JR-1 is rated rarity 4. JR-2 is rated rarity 1. Rarity 4 means that less than 200 examples are known, while more than 1250 examples of JR-2 are known. Congratulations!

I am too new to provide a grade but I do think it is a beautiful looking coin. I hope to dig one out of the ground in the near future...lol likely not as nice but you never know...congrats...

Solid VF-25 with a wonderfully even strike. So many of this date seem to have considerably less strike strength at center. Yours is the lovely exception.

Agree VF-25. Looks like the fields may have been cleaned at one time, but it's probably market-acceptable. Hope so! Do let us know.

a little weak on the shield but this is nice example. I had it between VF25 and 30. I'm leaning more towards 25

Thanks everyone! I was thinking the coin would make a VF30, now up to 29 business days on the Regular Submission so should be done later this week or early next. Will post the results when they come through.

Results just came in (after quite a prolonged wait of 40 business days) PCGS graded it VF35, very pleased with that result!

Here is the photo provided by PCGS (much more accurate than the one posted originally).
