Help Identifying 2 Old French Coins

j_hewes Valued Member United States 52 Posts	Posted 09/03/2016 2:26 pm I got these two unidentified coins at ebay recently. They look vaguely familiar, but I can't read much of the text. The first one is 18mm, 1.2 gm. Very tarnished. Possibly billon. Looks possibly like a Crusader coin. The 2nd side reads SAP__LI[N?]ARS. The second coin is 27mm, 3.20 gm. Ha! I just partially identified this - a Knights Templar gros tournois. But the reverse reads "IOHANNES REX" and has a cross with a long arm. Not quite like the Templar coins I just found on the 'net.
