Looks like some heavy die polishing abrasion on the reverse side of the coin. I think the area to the right of the G is just coincidental marks on the coin that resemble another G. There is a variety of the 1988 cents that have the reverse of the 1989 cents that is collectable.

Your coin is the normal reverse for 1988.

Not a double FG. Worn die,die abrasion marks.

Keep in mind to on the RDV-006, I don't think I've seen a 1988 example with a extremely worn die. So if it is really worn, it is probably a RDV-005 for the 1988 cents.
