Seriously, I too received an email on what I think about this set. RCM does this all the time. How incompetent! I am always asked for reviews on SOLD out coins. I totally ignore. I received the set just before Christmas. Anyone who ordered before Nov 15, should have gotten it, according to my rep.

Were you thinking even for the moment, spending a minute of your time for writing any kind of review? You all know, that these reviews are filtered in the best case and modified in the worst case. But you right, in any way, just another point for non-professional customer care. Will someone upload "live" pictures of the coins? Unlike RCM website, many real and friendly "thanks" guaranteed here...

I ordered this set when they had the promo of free coins on Sept 22nd. I added 2 floating frames to bring the total to $270 and received 2 rolls of Lucky Loonies as a bonus. Still haven't received my set so your rep is wrong (surprise, surprise) New1954.

I ordered mine on Sept 25 and added a couple things to get the free lucky loonie roll and 1/2 oz maple leaves coin. I've received everything else from that order, except for the 150 set. As of Sept 26, status is Processing.

Question for "serious collectors" : I noticed something on the 2017 small circulation coins - 25c, 10c, 5c: The new coins have no these small dots close to edge (beads?) For me, they, or any similar ornament / pattern associated with the circulation coins, and the rounds without these dots - usually jetons or tokens. Do you see any explain to this? For me it looks like kind of "unfinished".

Silveroid, I would imagine the beads are absent because they take up space on the coin and the mint wanted to feature the winning designs as big as possible. That would be my guess. As to the reviews on the RCM website, I can confirm that they post unedited reviews that sometimes reflect negatively on the mint. Obviously, I can say this happens 100% of the time but I can say they posted my complaining rant word for word.

That would be my guess. yes, right, this possible. I would add, that competitors didn't even think about this element, and the Mint preferred to leave original design, without updates.

The set is a strange mish-mash.
Why does the Loonie have a [P] mark? And will the circulation version have that? The 50c has a non-hyphenated date, and a normal mint mark (so what if the obverse was the same logo?) $2, 25c, 10c, 5c have the Canada 150 logo mark.
Obverse has traditional fonts and beads on Loonie and 50c Obverse has new font and no beads on 5c, 10c, and 25c
Is this what we can expect for the circulation set: An inconsistent mess?

@dialog_gvf The P stands for plated, that's because the loonie coin in the set is a gold plated silver coin, just to differentiate from the pure gold coin. The circulation loonie for sure won't have this mark.
Since the 50 cents coin is not intent for circulation, I guess it won't have the same obverse design as the others.

Just got mine. The nickel is the best. High marks for the loon and toon as well. The SD is... unique, the 150 is a bit overpowering a distracts from some very nice features in the background.

I was not going to bother with this set initially. I have never, in fact in my life, bought a proof set of anything as I am not into that sort of thing.
With the Mint sold out I had to go to a local place and pay $20 more than initial issue price but I had a few silver badly worn circulation coins that I had collected/obtained at face value which I sold for $46 above face there, so that reduced my price to $204.
I have a couple of questions that perhaps pertain to all recent proof sets - at least it applies to this one for me. There is a protective film over the front and back of the "plastic-plexi" case. There are tiny bubbles in spots under the film. I know they are not on the coins or hard plastic case as when I peeled the film back, everything is perfect.
(1) How vital is it that I keep that protective film on there? Is there great risk of damaging the "plastic" case if I don't keep that film on there? (2) Were I to ever remove the coins from the folder, to store coins separately or sell in parts, is there a trick to opening the case to get the coins out?
I likely will keep this set intact and am happy with my purchase but I hope someone can answer my questions.

I,too, complained about the plastic film on this set and apparently all of them are like that. Some worse than others. I do have other proof sets and the film is okay; however, not with this set. I cannot advise you on whether to keep the film on or not. For now, I am keeping it on.

@punman: Regarding the protective film, it is there to help prevent scratches to the plastic lens - the film is not meant to protect the coins in the set, that is the job of the plastic lens. It is not vital to protecting the set long-term - the plastic lens is reasonably scratch resistant.
I generally keep the film on each set I own while it is being stored (no harm in doing so) but remove it when I take the set out to show others.
Regarding removing the coins from the plastic lens, someone else will need to reply as I haven't attempted to do so with any of my sets.

The film is an added layer of protection against scratches to the plastic lens. It can be easily removed at any time by the owner of the set and can be left off permanently w/o risking damage to the coins in the set.
